He’s in there somewhere

Check out this picture of Jose Aldo celebrating his first round knockout over the previously undefeated Chad Mendes.

In case you haven’t seen it, Aldo gets the stoppage with one second left of the first round, then immediately sprints out of the cage and straight into the insanely hyperactive crowd. Security had to literally pull Aldo away from his adoring fans, in what has to be the most epic post fight celebration in MMA history.

With this latest impressive victory under his belt, Aldo is arguably the number 2 pound for pound fighter in MMA today. Along with light-heavyweight champ Jon Jones, Aldo represents a new breed of champion. One that has already reached the very highest echelon of technical and physical ability, yet still has over a decade left with which to cement his legacy. That, quite frankly, is a little scary.
